RIP

So my grandpa died this week and it's been hard not getting to go out for the funeral (which was yesterday.) I must say that I am extremely appreciative for Jason and all that he's done. I called him on my way home after finding out, and he put all the dogs away because he knew I wouldn't be in the mood to get mauled when I walked in the door. He held me while I cried and then made dinner. And he has been so sweet to me because he knows I'm taking it hard. I was so excited to take him out to Florida in a few weeks to celebrate Grandpa's 90th birthday. We've never been on a plane together in the 6.5 years we've been a couple. I'm hoping we can still go out to visit my grandma because I know it will be hard for her to be alone when we were supposed to be having a big party.

He was a great man and I am so thankful that my grandpa got to meet him and be at our wedding. I'm sad that he'll never have great-grandchildren, but I consider myself so lucky to have known him for 25 years. RIP Grandpa, Jason and I love you.

Washing machine

We've been gone for over a week on vacation. We got home and settled from picking the dogs up late Sunday evening, and I had to return to work bright and early Monday morning. I really appreciate that Jason spent his next several days off tackling the massive amounts of laundry we brought home. And he took care of 5 dogs and a cat in the process. Feeling especially thankful for this amazing man that I fell in love with all over again on the high seas!

Love letters

I love my husband because when he gets his very own email account at work, he sends me an email to say hi :)

10 days

10 days from now, Jason and I will be on a ship heading off to vacation. We are so excited! Getting ready has consumed my waking moments, so even though I've thought of something to post every day this week, actually connecting my thoughts to when I sit down to the computer hasn't happened (obviously.) So here are some of the "little things" about Jason that I'm loving this week:

* He repainted the dining room and kitchen. The first color we picked out turned out to be all wrong, so he went back to Home Depot and selected the second color by himself. And now we have a winner. He peeled away all the wallpaper, primed, textured, primed again and painted, all within about a week. And it looks great!

* It rained the other night and was super cold the next morning. He went out before me and turned my car on and got the heater going. It was nice and toasty by the time I was ready to leave work.

* While he hasn't found permanent full time work, he is currently working a temp job. I made him lunch this morning and midday he texted me to say that the "team" was going to lunch together and that he felt bad he wouldn't be eating the lunch I packed for him. Awww.

* The other night we were laying in bed listening to my music and our wedding song came on. He took my hand and we kind of danced - insomuch as one can dance with another while still laying in bed. Yes, we're that lazy.

Can't make promises

Wow. It's been more than a year since my last update. This is embarrassing. I really don't have an excuse, I'm always on the computer. I guess all I can do is try my best to pick back up and post every day. We'll see.

So a lot has changed since my last post. Namely, we celebrated six years together in May and three years of wedded bliss last week. Not to mention Jason's birthday on 10/10/10 where we both bungee jumped for the first time!

Jason continues to work hard around the house. Right now he's in the middle of painting the dining room and kitchen. When this project is finished, it will mean that there is NO MORE WALLPAPER in our house! He has also repaired some little things that were major annoyances to me.

I continue to be in awe of our relationship and how it's never gotten old. Watching our wedding video (an annual tradition) brings back memories of my sister's speech about how we're a "regular couple" in love. We do regular things. Go regular places. Run regular errands. And for the most part, she's right. But she left out one tiny detail: we have an extraordinary love.

Happy anniversary!

Today is our second wedding anniversary - my, how time flies! Since we're going on a cruise in three weeks, I'm sure we'll keep things pretty low key.

The traditional second-year anniversary gift is cotton, so we bought all new linens for the guest bathroom, which Jason has been working on redoing for about two weeks. And he is taking me to dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen - yum!

The thing that I find myself thinking most about when I think back to our wedding is the beautiful weather that day. It was nice and cool when we woke up that morning, but the sun was shining and there were no clouds. The pictures of the church show gorgeous blue skies, the perfect kind of fall day. The weather here this week has bene exactly like that - beautiful with that crispness in the air. Of course, it's supposed to go back to being gray and rainy tomorrow. It just makes me smile that the weather gods have given it a rest long enough for us to celebrate two amazing years of marriage!
