Showered with attention

I love my husband, and I know I say it all the time, but I'm also sure I don't say it enough. So I'm saying it now. I love my husband!

Tuesday night I came home after a really bad day at work. I hold grudges, so I was still in a bad mood over something that had happened earlier that day. To top it off I had to stop at the grocery store on my way home and try to figure out what was for dinner. Needless to say by the time I walked in with the groceries, I wasn't in a good mood.

I got on the computer to check my email and a few minutes later, Jason said he needed my help with something in the master bathroom. We have a leaky shower faucet, so I thought it would be something related. I was tired and didn't want to care about it, but I followed anyway.

What a surprise! I pushed open the bathroom door and it was dark except for a lit candle. The bathtub was full and my bath pillow had been put into place. The bathroom heater was on and my towel was within reach of the tub.

I soaked in the tub for a good 20 minutes, just laying there trying to let go of the stress. It was so refreshing. While I relaxed, Jason let the dogs out and then fed them. I didn't have to do anything but enjoy my bath. And I certainly did.

L-O-V-E

What a great weekend!

Friday night we went out with a bunch of friends for my birthday. We went to a place called Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, which is exactly what it sounds like it is. Two guys playing two pianos facing each other. They take requests, suggestions, and insults surprisingly well! At one point they called me up on stage to embarrass me by making me dance to "Head and shoulders, knees and toes." Thanks to my husband for ordering me drinks and my friends for all the shots!

Saturday we slept in a bit and then my husband surprised me with my Valentine's gift - tickets to see Stars on Ice! We spent a lovely afternoon together watching some pretty neat stuff (heck, half the gift was the fact that he was even willing to go to Stars on Ice with me!) Then we came home and Jason cooked a delicious steak dinner. It was the perfect way to spend the day celebrating our love by spending time together, just the two of us.

Today we went to church, then out to lunch with Jason's grandparents, sister and our nephew. I am absolutely in love with this little boy, and I can't wait until I can take him out and show him off to everyone I know! This afternoon we took our foster dog PB to get his rabies vaccine and then tonight met up with some old friends for dinner.

On the way home from dinner I was thinking about our 5-year anniversary coming up and how it doesn't seem like that much time has passed already. I think back to other relationships I've had (none of which ever made it this far) and how they all just seemed to lose something at the end (probably why it was the end for most of them.) I thank God that not only do I still love my husband, but I still want him to be around all the time. He's the only friend I've ever had in my life that I've never felt like we spend too much time together. Even though I know I'll see him every day when I get home from work, it still feels like a schoolgirl crush when he visits me at work because I get all smiley and excited. And even though I know it with every fiber of my being, it still makes my heart flutter when he says he loves me.

What a great weekend!

A whirlwind of a weekend

My weekend started Thursday at 6pm when I got off work, came home, finished laundry, packed, ate dinner and watched Grey's.

We got up Friday and transported dogs all over the Metroplex. Buffy and Brina went to a boarding/daycare facility, and PB and Chester went to homes of other volunteers. Then we took off for Houston and drove to my mom's house in Sugar Land.

We went to dinner and watched Hell's Kitchen on Friday night. Saturday my sister, my mom and I went shopping and then we picked up lunch and had a picnic. Then we drove to dad's where we had mucho margaritas and lasagna before hitting the sack wayyy too late!

Yesterday we got up and drove back here. Then we spent our evening picking up dogs, grocery shopping, doing laundry, and bathing everyone including the dogs.

It was a whirlwind weekend, and it's so hard to get good quality time in with two families in the span of 48 hours, but somehow, we managed.

Thanks for all my gifts and birthday wishes everyone!

Early birthday

Last night we went to a Superbowl party at Jason's aunt and uncle's house. Since our family is spread so far across the Metroplex, we decided to combine the party with a birthday party for me (birthday next Sunday) and my sister in law (birthday yesterday.)

Jason's gift to me was a photo album. When I opened it up, there was a card that said:

Legacy Boxer Rescue
The Williams Family
Jason, K.C., Buffy and Sabrina
Members since 2008

Then on each spread were pictures of each of our foster dogs, in chronological order. It made me cry to see all of the babies that I've loved on and how happy they are with their new families. It was such a thoughtful gift, and I will definitely cherish it forever.

There's still lots of room for more pictures of more dogs, which is a really good thing, since today we took in TWO more dogs! Chester and PB came from two different shelters, but you would think they're best friends since not only do they get along fabulously, but they are both male, white, and deaf! So we are definitely in for a ride with these two.

Thanks a million times for my birthday gift. My sweet husband can turn on the waterworks any time he wants so long as it's for something as treasured as my album already is.

I <3 U

Every now and then when I make my lunch the night before, I'll make one for Jason too (because really, how hard is it to make an extra sandwich?) Then I'll bag it up and put a little sticky note in it that usually doesn't say anything more than "I love you." I know it's not a huge thing, but I like to think that when he sees the note, it brightens his day, or at least makes him smile.

After Superbowl tonight, we somehow managed to come home with more food than we brought. Luckily, I have a lot of starving coworkers who can finish off anything I dare put in the breakroom. So when we got home, Jason stuck it in some plastic containers so it'll be ready for me to grab in the morning. And, the sweetest part of all, there's a little note on top that says "I <3 U."
